Connecting With Your Inner Child

Many people who struggle with weight loss understand exactly what needs to be done in order to lose weight. Ask them a question about why they overate and they can pinpoint the emotion and the feelings that caused the urge to consume large quantities. Others struggle with the exact reasons, or can’t understand why weight loss remains such a difficult task. For many of these people, the secret lies in how they dealt with problems and life-changing events throughout their childhood and adolescence. By understanding how they dealt with problems earlier in life, they can often address how to deal with similar problems today.

Although there are many different forms of therapy which engage the inner child and seek to understand some of the motives for overeating or weight loss struggles, it is also possible for anyone to collect some photos and begin the course on their own. By focusing on pictures in different stages of your own life, you can think about what emotions were dominant in that time period. Perhaps as a child you were carefree and thin, but as a teenager you felt insecure and gained weight. Try to identify what caused weight changes and what emotions went with it.

Along with identifying the different feelings present at each stage of life, try to connect with the inner child in each photo. Speak confidently and express what you wish that person could have known in that time period. By speaking these things aloud, your current person can begin to understand and absorb the information.

Many people begin to have an easier time on their weight loss journey after connecting with their inner child. For those who want to pursue a faster method of weight loss, consider attending a lap band seminar in St. Petersburg for detailed information on the procedure.
