Meet Dr. Walters, M.D.

Michael J. Walters, M.D.Originally a native of Texas, Michael Walters, MD., completed his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  From there he travelled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he completed his Medical Doctorate at the Medical College of Wisconsin. 

He completed his internship in general surgery in Milwaukee, then travelled to Lebanon, New Hampshire where he completed his residency in general and vascular surgery at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.  He has also been active in medical research and has published in the fields of immunology, and general surgery.

Dr. Walters has a strong background in the full spectrum of general and vascular surgery including Oncologic, and Endocrine surgery especially in surgery of the thyroid, and pancreatic glands as well as melanoma.  He also has strong training in surgery of the Breast, and GI tract with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic resection for both benign and malignant diseases. 

His experience in vascular surgery includes operations on the aorta, as well as iliac, femoral and more distal arteries, as well as carotid endarterectomy.  He has a strong interest in minimally invasive techniques for treatment of vascular disease including percutaneous stenting of diseased vessels in the periphery as well as renal, and mesenteric vessels.

Dr. Walters is also fluent in American Sign Language.
